Crazy Hair Day

Today is "crazy hair day" at Jacob's school. He has always wanted a mohawk, to which I tell him, not while you are living in my house. He was very excited that I let him have a mohawk today.  For a while he did not think that I would really let him have it.

Seth decided that he was going to join in on the fun also.  I guess Jacob's spirit week has become a family affair.

Like Father, Like Son

Today is mismatch day at Jacob's school.  He was pretty excited to get dressed this morning.  The first thing he picked out actually matched so he had to try again.  I think he did a pretty good job.  The entire outfit was his doing.  He even had me spike up half of his hair.

On Tuesday afternoon Sean goes to Jacob's class to read.  At lunch Sean said to me, "I think I am going to be a fun dad today" (he is always a fun dad).  I asked what he meant.  Below is our fun "mismatched" dad.

Crazy weather

Yesterday evening we had a hail storm.  I have seen hail before but never this much, it covered our deck and sidewalk.  It was amazing.  We were down in the basement watching a movie and heard something strange.  We then realized that it was hail hitting the house.  We all enjoyed going out in between storms.  We had three in all.  After talking to some friends today not everyone had hail.  Friends who live about 4 miles away just had rain, strange.

After the last storm our neighbor took all the neighborhood kids around for a ride running through the puddles that were left.  That was the highlight of the evening.

Busch Gardens

We spent all day Tuesday at Busch Gardens in Williamsburg.  It was hot and crowded but the kids had fun.  We had lunch with "Elmo and Friends".  It was nice because it was inside an air conditioned building so it gave us all a break from being outside in the heat.

Lucy, Seth and Emma enjoyed watching the Sesame Street show.

Lucy kept pointing to all the characters and saying "this, this". She liked them from far away but did not like it when any of the characters got close to our table.

The characters were all great.  They all came to our table at least two times.  I think Seth enjoyed it the most.  He was giving all the characters hugs and high fives.  Bert even did the "pigeon" for us.  The kids were ready to go once they were fed.

Emma was brave and tall enough to ride the Elmo roller coaster.  Sean went with her.  He said she was a little nervous at first but did a good job.  Jacob decided he wanted to try some of the big roller coasters.  I can not ride too many roller coasters or I get sick but I did want to ride at least one.  So, Jacob and I rode the Lochness.  He loved it.  In fact, at about 5:30pm Emma, Seth, Lucy and mommy had had our fill of Busch Gardens.  We headed back to the hotel so that daddy and Jacob could ride the big boy rides.  Sean was surprised how many rides Jacob rode.  They had a good time.  We went back to pick them up when the park closed.

I think this is how we all felt at the end of the day.

We had a wonderful Spring Break trip.  It was good to be home but we made many wonderful memories.

Family Reunion

Kris, Kim and Kira
Kris and the kids.
Me and my aunt Jane.

I have an aunt and two cousins that live in the Hampton Roads area near where we were.  We were able to meet them for dinner on Monday night.  It has been several years since we have seen them.  It was a lot of fun to see them.  We had dinner and then headed to "Kidsburg", which was across the street from their house.  It was a very nice, VERY large playground.  Jacob and my cousin Kris even played a little basketball.  As you can imagine our kids were exhausted after a long but very fun day.  They all slept very well.

For Spring Break we took a quick trip to Williamsburg, VA. We left our house Sunday evening and took a pit stop in Fredericksburg at Sean's parents house, even though they were not there. It was a nice stopping place so that the trip was not so long on Monday. Monday we headed to Williamsburg. We checked into our hotel room then headed to Jamestowne, VA. It was a great place. We took what was supposed to be a quick tour but lasted a bit longer. We had to leave the tour a little early because the kids were getting restless. It was a good time and the kids learned a little about our country's beginning.

Glassblowing, it was amazing.

After we left Jamestowne settlement we headed to the glassblowing house. It was amazing to watch how quickly he turned a blob into a beautiful heart shaped glass bowl. The kids enjoyed watching him work.

Egg Hunt

Uncle Wesley, broken arm and all, helping the boys find eggs.
Emma finds an egg.
Jacob and Seth racing to an egg.

Grandma and Grandpa Butler brought eggs to hide for a hunt. Grandma and Aunt Rebekah hid the eggs. The kids were very excited to go look. Unfortunately Lucy was taking a nap but her sister and brothers were happy to get her eggs. They all grabbed a paper bag and they were off. They found all but two of them. We all started looking and finally recovered all the eggs.

Easter Morning

Jacob got some Pokemon cards.
Lucy got a stuffed duck and a book.
Emma got a Zhu Zhu pet and the girl LOVES candy.
Seth got a Batman car.

We got home late Saturday night from a friends house. The kids forgot to put eggs in their baskets but after they were in bed Jacob reminded me that they did not put plastic eggs in their baskets so I quickly put the eggs in the basket with him. We had a good Easter morning. We had cinnamon rolls for breakfast. The kids baskets were filled and that made them happy. We had General Conference for church so we were able to stay home and watch it from home. My family came up to watch it with us. It was nice to have family here for the day.
