All of the kids still want to hold and be with Lucy all the time. It is great that they love their little sister. In the morning we usually lay Lucy in our front room where the sun comes right in the window. She is very happy there. Most days I come back in to find Emma right next to her talking and singing. Emma just can not get enough of her sister. Seth and Jacob are always wanting to hold her. Lucy is a fussy baby and that makes Jacob a little nervous when he is holding her sometimes but it does not matter to Seth if she is crying, he still wants to hold her. I am grateful everyday for my wonderful children and the blessing that they are to our family. I love that they love each other.

Snow and Ice

Jacob has not had school for two days. It is nice to have everyone home for a couple of days. Yesterday we got about 2 -3 inches of snow. The kids had a lot of fun out in it. They all enjoyed making snowballs and throwing them at each other. I am not a huge fan of snow so Daddy's job is to go out in the snow and I stay in and make the hot chocolate. This year I have an even better reason to stay in, Lucy. It stopped in the late afternoon and then in the evening started the freezing rain. We now have a layer of ice on top of all the snow. It is much better for sledding though.

Sleepy Seth
Okay, let me just start this with a reminder that I have an infant, and might I add, that does not nap very well and cries a lot. I have to choose which battles I am going to fight and the nap battle with Seth is one that has been slacking. Usually quiet time now consists of watching a movie. Well, yesterday Seth did not get a nap. Jacob and Emma were playing the Wii and I was making dinner. I realized that I had not seen or heard Seth in a little while so I asked Jacob and Emma if Seth was in there with them and the both looked around and replied "no, he must be in the basement". So I headed to the basement to check on him and the door to the basement was closed so I knew he was not down there. As I walked through the living room, where Jacob and Emma were, to go upstairs to check on him, I found him as you see him in this picture. If you can not tell what it is, we have a large basket that sits by our fireplace that holds several blankets. It is the perfect size for Seth to sit in, which he does often. He looked very comfortable and warm with all the blankets.

Doctor Appointments
Yesterday Emma and Lucy had check ups at the doctors. Emma now weighs in a whopping 35lbs. She is also tall for her age, which we have learned over the years is par for the course with our children. She had to get 4 shots. We tried to prepare her as much as we could. We told her that it would hurt and that it is okay to cry but not to go crazy. She did really well. She only cried a little bit. And of course because she was crying mommy cried also (it is the hormones). Since she did so well they let her choose a toy from the treasure box plus mommy and daddy took her to get a slurpee. She is a healthy, happy, smart 4 year old.
Lucy weighed in at 8lbs 7oz. She is growing well. The jaundice in gone and the doctor is pleased with her development. She also got one shot. She only cried for a minute. She did not get a slurpee though. Lucy is starting to sleep a little bit better. She is a bit fussy because she wants to be held all the time but hopefully she will grow out of that soon because I do not have time to hold her all the time.
It is a challenge having four but a good challenge. We are slowly getting into our routine. It is nice though to have a day where we can all stay in our pj's and not have to go anywhere if we do not want to.

Finally a little snow
Jacob loves the snow and shoveling.
Emma is like mommy and is not a huge fan of snow but wanted to be outside in it with her brothers.
Seth really likes the snow but gets cold very quickly and wants to constantly go in and out, which as we all know is a huge pain when you are putting on and taking off snow clothes.
Yesterday we finally got a tiny bit of snow here. There was not even enough to cover the grass but that did not matter to the kids. When we got up, at about 7am, the kids saw the snow and immediately wanted to go outside. I had to feed Lucy and Sean was not home from work yet so I informed them that they would have to wait until daddy got home. Well, daddy was still not here so I finally got them all outfitted to go out at about 8am. None of them would go get socks and all of them have their PJ's on under their snow stuff. They were making snow angels and trying to make snowballs. Jacob shoveled the driveway so it was clear when daddy got home. Even though it was not a lot and it was gone by the afternoon, Jacob did not have to go to school and they all enjoyed it while it lasted.

Back to Reality
Sean is back at work. He works the night shift Sunday - Wednesday, so the good thing is he is home three days. Well, last night was rough, Lucy decided that she did not want to sleep. Which is not a terrible thing, except I do like my sleep, but she was crying most of the night. She has been a time consuming baby. She wants to be held all the time. It would be fine if she were our first but since she is not she needs to learn to be a little more laid back. Emma and Seth do not like when she cries. In fact this morning I fed and changed her and then but her in the swing. She then started crying and Emma said "Mommy, Lucy is crying and she wants you to hold her." Until last night she has been doing pretty good at night but I guess she wanted to break me in since Sean was not home.
As for the other kids, they are doing great. Jacob is back in school and glad. Emma's preschool starts back up tomorrow and she is very excited. I am feeling well just tired from lack of sleep but other than that good.

Happy 6th Birthday Jacob!!
Jacob 1 day old
Happy 6th Birthday Jacob!!
6 months old (I love this picture of him).
Today we are celebrating Jacob's 6th birthday. The best birthday present he received is that he does not have school today!! The roads are just wet so I am not sure why there is no school but it is fun to have him home all day for his special day. We had a family party for him on Sunday. We did it then since everyone was already coming for Lucy's blessing. We asked him what he wanted for lunch for the party. He wanted steak (we are going to be in trouble when he is a teenager). We told him that we did not have the money to feed 20 people steak so we had soup and subs. We are going to have steak as a family tonight. It is a little more affordable that way. He had a Ben 10 cake and chocolate chip ice cream. It was fun day and hopefully today will be fun also.
I love Jacob very much. It has been a hard adjustment for mommy this year to have him in kindergarten. He is very caring and always wants to do what is right. He is also my most sensitive child which can be a challenge at times. He is a great big brother and always wants to help.

Lucy's Blessing Day
With the bonnet too.
Lucy with her daddy and grandpas.
Lucy with her daddy and grandpas.
Today we blessed Lucy at church. It was a wonderful day. My dad and Cathie with Wesley and Rebekah and Sean's parents were able to come. My sister Gretchen and her family and Sean's brother Doug and his family were also there. It is nice to have family close enough to be able to share the special events of our lives with. After church, we go at 9am now, we all came back to our house and had some lunch. It was a fun afternoon.
We also had cake and ice cream for Jacob since his birthday is on Tuesday. I will post more about that on Tuesday on his birthday.
