My little boy is growing up....

So I think I mentioned in a previous post that Jacob no longer wants to watch cartoons when he gets up in the morning. He is usually the first one up and the only of my children who knows how to use the TV remote, so he gets to watch what he wants and his first choice these days in Sports Center. Well, this morning Sean and I were in the other room and hear Jacob yell to his dad, "that play should have made the top 10". If you watch Sports Center you know that they do the top 10 plays, I am not sure if they do it daily or weekly but my son knows that they do it and is now deciding which plays he think should make the list. Sean was grinning from ear to ear, very excited that his son is into sports. Sean is a wealth of useless sports knowledge and I think Jacob is going to follow right behind.

4 months already!!

Lucy was 4 months on Sunday. She had her check up on Tuesday. Sean actually took her because I had preschool at my house this week, poor planning on my part. She weighs 12lb 6oz which is in the 23% and she is 25.5 inches long which is in the 90%. She is following her sister and brother Seth. They are both very small and tall. I wish I were in 23% for my weight. :-) Jacob on the other hand has always been in the 90% for his weight. She got 3 shots. She was very calm when the nurse came in to give them to her and she told Sean, "she is so happy she probably will not cry." Is that lady crazy!! I would love to see a baby that does not cry when they are stuck with a needle. Both of Lucy's big toes have ingrown nails. Sean has been working on them. The doctor looked at them and was able to get one out. They both look much better today.

I have had preschool at my house this week. We were talking about space. We took a field trip to the Air & Space Museum in Dulles yesterday. It was a lot of fun. My kids really like it there. Seth really loved all of the planes. It is the first time he has been so excited about them all.

Sean is changing schedules next week. He has been working the night shift (9:30pm - 7:30am) Wednesday - Saturday. It makes for a hard Sunday for him but he suffers through. Next week he is changing to swing shift (12:30pm - 10:30pm) Wednesday - Saturday. I am NOT happy about this but I have to remind myself that we have a job and a wonderful daddy who works hard for us.

Baby's first cereal

"Hey, what is that you are feeding me?"
"Okay mom, I am done with this."

This morning Lucy had cereal for the first time. She did pretty good. She started spitting it out a little bit toward the end but she did better than I thought she was going to do. We will try again tomorrow morning. When I told the other kids I was going to give her cereal this morning Seth said, "Mommy, she can not have cereal she does not have teeth." He is pretty smart. Jacob asked, "What kind are you going to give her?" (thinking she was getting regular cereal) And Emma got a spoon for her. They were all excited to watch as Lucy ate for the first time.

Easter Weekend

Egg hunt at Jacob's school.
This was Seth's first egg hunt.
Our weekend started out by having an egg hunt with Jacob's class at school. Siblings were invited to attend also. The kids had fun. After the egg hunt we took Jacob out of school. He was a little sad because his class and their siblings were going to play some games but we needed to head out so that we could start our journey to Michigan. We went to spend Easter weekend with Sean's brother and his family. It was a long drive but the kids did really well. Lucy cried a lot on the way there but hardly at all on the way home.
Coloring eggs.
Fun with the Easter eggs.

Easter morning the kids were up early to see what the Easter Bunny had brought them. Luckily we did not have to be at church until 10am so they had a little bit of time. All of the kids enjoyed having a little bit of candy first thing in the morning.
COUSINS after church on Sunday.

The Brown kids on Easter Sunday.

We had a great time and are glad that we made the trip to Michigan. The kids miss being around their cousins and really enjoyed each other.

Wednesday is the day.

I guess Wednesday is the best day for me to blog because it seems like lately that many of my posts are from Wednesday. Either that or I feel guilty enough by Wednesday that I have not posted anything about the weekend that I think I better do it today or it is not going to get done.

So, our weekend, first of all I was not feeling well on Thursday, Friday or Saturday. Friday night Jacob went to a birthday party. His soccer practice was cancelled because of the ran so that was one less thing for us to do.

Saturday we Jacob had a soccer game. After his game we watched the first session of General Conference. Between sessions our neighbor was having a birthday party so we all headed over there, minus Sean and Lucy who were sleeping. Then we came home for the second session of conference.

Sunday my Dad and Cathie and the family came to watch General Conference. It is always fun when they come. They have two foster children right now so my kids enjoyed playing with them.

Monday was back to normal, school for Jacob and dance for Emma. We are leaving tomorrow to head to Michigan to visit with Sean's brother and his family for the beginning of Spring Break. It is going to be a long drive but hopefully the kids will do well.

Sleep habits of a baby.

Lucy slept from 8pm - 5:45am last night!! Too bad I was not feeling well and did not get a good night sleep. I tossed and turned most of the night. And I woke up at 3:30am in a start worried about her and ran in her room to find her sound asleep. I laid in my bed awake for 2 hours because I was sure that she was going to wake up any minute. Also, she can roll to her side in her crib. She sleeps on her tummy (do not tell my pediatrician) and yesterday and today we have found her on her side in her crib. It would be fine except that she does not like that sleeping position. She cries, and very hard might I add, until we go in there and put her back on her tummy. Some day I will get 8 hours of sleep in a row. :-)

Random pictures

We have a meter for the sewer between our house and our neighbors. Seth loves to play on it. It must be a boy thing. We were outside yesterday and I must have asked him 20 times to get off of it and not touch it. So, he stood as close as he could without touching it. I could just hear him saying "I am not touching it!!"

Lucy at 3 months.

Lucy again, "I see you".

We got Emma a new bike about a month ago. She loves to ride it. It is a princess bike complete with water bottle, bag and streamers on the handle bars.

Our pain in the you know what dog, Belle. She is about 18 months now. I am ready for her to calm down a lot. She does not like the new floors. She slides all over the place. She does not run around the house as much now.

Soccer in the rain

Waiting for the ball.
Get the ball.

BROTHERS
Jacob was taking his turn sitting out. He was watching the game and Seth decided to watch with him. (I love this picture).
Jacob has his first soccer game on Saturday. We were sure that he was not going to have it because it was raining. I went to the gym in the morning and on my way home decided to drive by the fields just to be sure that no one was playing. To my surprise they were playing, in the rain. When I got home Jacob was very excited to learn that he would indeed have a game. His game was not until noon so it had stopped raining by the time we were headed to the field. When we got to the field it was raining again. Jacob did not care and had a wonderful time. GO STINGERS!
